The mission of Stories of Change is to connect and engage independent storytellers with renowned social entrepreneurs to foster the enhancement of story skills and networking among these communities, and to support the creation of compelling films about solutions to urgent social issues that enlighten and inspire audiences.

Panel 1–History in the Making: Creative Use of Archival Footage

Joseph Krings

Joseph Krings is a documentary and narrative feature editor who has worked on Supermensch, Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead, Captain Fantastic, Wolves, and most recently Rebel in the Rye. Krings is a Sundance Institute Sally Menke Memorial Editing Fellow and is currently working on What Carter Lost.

 

Mary Lampson

Mary Lampson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and editor whose past projects include Academy Award–winning Harlan County, USA; Until She Talks; Queen of Versailles; and The Bad Kids. She has been a fellow and an advisor at Sundance Institute’s Documentary Edit and Story Lab and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.


Maya Mumma

Maya Mumma began her career with Academy Award–nominated documentary Restrepo. Most recently, she was an editor on the Academy Award–winning documentary O.J.: Made in America. She has also edited Which Way Is the Front Line From Here?, Peabody Award–winning Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown, and A Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers.

Ashley Clark

Ashley Clark is a writer and film programmer who has curated series at BFI Southbank, London (Inside Afrofuturism, Black Star) and BAMcinématek (Space Is The Place: Afrofuturism on Film; Behind the Mask: Bamboozled in Focus). He writes for The Guardian, VICE, Film Comment, and Sight & Sound; is a regular guest critic on the BBC's Film show; and published his first book in 2015.

Chyld King 

Chyld King is a documentary editor whose work includes Containment (Independent Lens), Secrecy (2008 Sundance Film Festival), Academy Award–winning The Fog of War, Emmy-nominated The Amish (American Experience), episodes of PBS’s God in America, and First Person.

Lindsay Utz

Lindsay Utz is the editor of the documentary Bully, which was short-listed for an Academy Award, and most recently completed Quest (2017 Sundance Film Festival). Her other credits include First Position, Buoy, In Country, an Emmy-nominated episode for PBS Frontline, and shorts for The New York Times. Utz is a Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellow.

Marshall Curry

Marshall Curry is an Academy Award–nominated documentary director, cinematographer, and editor, as well as a writer and producer. His films include Street Fight, Racing Dreams, If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front, Point and Shoot, and Mistaken for Strangers. He has been nominated for Writers Guild Awards and won the Documentary Editing Award at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
